It's five stages, all in the province of A Coruña and in two warning zones: inland and western A Coruña. Here we count, for each one, the warning days in the zones it crosses, and add them up month by month.

It's a route of two seasons. July and August are the calmest months, and October to January the busiest, with rain and wind. Its worst days have been orange warnings for rain and wind, such as 9 November 2018 or 18 and 19 December 2019.

Snow barely counts, and heat brings few warnings, especially on the coast, although in August it's the top reason for a warning.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best month to walk the Camino de Fisterra y Muxía?

By warnings, August: on average, 0.2 warning days if you walk the 5 stages that month. Then July and May. The month with the most warnings is October, with 1.1 days.

Which section of the Camino de Fisterra y Muxía gets the most rain warnings?

Not much: in July and August, even the section with the most heat warnings (Santiago to Olveiroa) doesn't reach 5% of days with a heat warning.

What should I do if there's a warning on my stage?

A yellow warning calls for attention, not cancelling: check the forecast, set off early if it's for heat and have a plan B for storms or snow on a pass. With orange or red, follow Civil Protection's and the hostels' advice, and consider shortening or changing the stage.

This is not a forecast: it counts the warnings AEMET issued on those dates in past years. A warning is a forecast that a threshold will be crossed in the zone, not damage.
