How it is counted
A warning day is a day on which AEMET had at least one yellow, orange or red warning in the zone; it counts once, at its highest level. Spain has 182 warning zones and every town gets the warnings of its own. Averages use the complete years 2019–2025; provinces and regions are the average of their zones. A warning is a forecast that a threshold will be crossed, not damage, and each zone has its own thresholds: these figures measure how often AEMET warns, not the climate or the risk to a building.
