Camino Natural del Ebro weather: warnings stage by stage, month by month

Camino Natural del Ebro, Fontibre to Deltebre, in 14 stages. Warnings 2019–2025; updated 27 October 2026.

The Camino Natural del Ebro (GR 99) follows the river from its source at Fontibre, in Cantabria, to the delta at Deltebre. By warnings it's three routes in one: snow and wind at the head of the river, heat and storms in the valley, and wind on the last section, in Tarragona. This is what the official warnings say, stage by stage and month by month.

The stages cross warning zones in Cantabria, Burgos, La Rioja, Navarre, Zaragoza and Tarragona. Here we count, for each one, the warning days in the zones it crosses, and add them up month by month.

October and April are the calmest months. July and August are the busiest, for heat and storms; January is busy too, mostly for wind and cold.

Over the last eight years, most red days have come with the summer heat, and some covered the whole route, such as 24 August 2023 or 11, 16 and 17 August 2025. In winter there have also been red days for snow, such as 9 and 10 January 2021.

The Camino Natural del Ebro's warning zones

AEMET doesn't warn by village but by zone. The Camino Natural del Ebro crosses 8 warning zones, each with its own thresholds and warnings: on the same day one section can have a warning and the next none.

A yellow warning calls for attention, not cancelling: check the forecast and, in heat, ride first thing. With strong wind, above all crosswind, shorten the stage or wait. With storms, find shelter before the afternoon. With orange or red, follow Civil Protection's advice and don't set off.

This is not a forecast: it counts the warnings AEMET issued on those dates in past years. A warning is a forecast that a threshold will be crossed in the zone, not damage.
